Sam DiNello and Future Energy are back in the news, underscoring what differentiates Future Energy from other DTE trade allies.
The latest edition of DTE’s EnergySmarts for Michigan Business magazine highlights how Future Energy helped a city-sized hospital system upgrade its lighting to high-tech, intelligent LED fixtures. The new intelligent lighting includes sensors, power monitoring, and network communications.
Even though the intelligent fixtures cost more, Future Energy was able to identify and apply DTE rebates that made the technology work within the system’s budget. The upgrades ultimately reduced energy costs by 80%, saving the system more than $1.6 million.
About the DTE Trade Ally Program
With more than 2.2 million customers across southeastern Michigan, DTE Energy is working to meet the state’s goal to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
To help businesses maximize energy savings, DTE works with more than 800 contractors designated as trade allies. Through the DTE Energy Trade Ally Program, these contractors provide businesses with detailed analyses, plans, and upgrades with an eye toward energy-efficient facilities, equipment, or technology.
DTE trade allies have helped businesses capture more than $200 million in incentives and rebates since the program began in 2009.
The Future Energy Difference
As a tier-one trade ally, Future Energy has a proven track record of capturing the most incentives for customers in Michigan through the program. We design, sell, and install efficient lighting solutions, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and many other intelligent energy-saving systems.
Driving Savings through Data
To drive energy savings for customers, we give them the ability to better measure and manage their energy use: Our proprietary software, Interface, not only powers our solutions but also seamlessly integrates with existing intelligent devices and systems.
With Interface, HVAC, elevators, security, and other building systems are all visible in one intuitive interface on any device. This creates a single data-driven ecosystem of smart devices that’s easier for customers to monitor and manage.
Helping to Maximize Incentives
Since its inception in 2011, Future Energy has fostered a culture of adding value for customers by finding ways to help them save money. Sam DiNello, cofounder of Future Energy, estimates that the company has accessed more than $1 million in rebates for its DTE clients.
In fact, Future Energy is so committed to saving its customers money that it will work on finding incentives for jobs that involve other contractors. “We do that a lot,” DiNello says. “We’ll say to our customers, ‘Hey, did you get an incentive on that?’ Even if Future Energy didn’t get a particular project, we’ll say, ‘Let us call DTE and have them reach out to your contractor to see if we can help them get you that rebate.’”
And unlike many contractors, Future Energy provides end-to-end, comprehensive energy-saving solutions and a concierge-style service. This includes paperwork: identifying, completing, and submitting whatever is necessary to win incentive and grant money for customers.
Future Energy is ready to help your business save money through finding and applying for available money for energy-efficient building upgrades. “As a partner, we look at your business holistically,” DiNello says. “We always ask if you have thought about all available incentives. And if you haven’t, we can help you with that. It’s what we do, and we’re proud of it.”
